FAQ

Everything you need before Friday. Written for first-time entrants and returning teams alike.

01Who can participate?+

Any currently enrolled university student is eligible, regardless of institution or year of study. You do not need to attend King's College London to take part.

02Do I need a team?+

Teams may have up to four members. You are welcome to enter solo or with a partial team; a dedicated team formation session on Friday evening helps you find collaborators.

03What should I build?+

Anything you can ship in twenty-four hours. Optional tracks and sponsor challenges are announced at the opening ceremony, but the scope of your project is yours to define.

04Is there a cost to enter?+

Entry is free. Meals, refreshments, workspace, and overnight facilities are provided for the full duration of the event.

05What should I bring?+

A valid student ID, your laptop and chargers, and any hardware your project requires. A sleeping bag is advisable if you intend to stay overnight.

06Do I need prior experience?+

No. Roughly a third of entrants are attending their first hackathon. Mentors are on site throughout, and introductory workshops run across both days.

07How are projects judged?+

A panel of academics and industry judges assesses technical merit, originality, execution, and the clarity of your final presentation. Weightings are published at the opening ceremony.

08Where is it held?+

Bush House on the Strand Campus, in central London. The nearest stations are Temple and Holborn; full access information is sent with your confirmation.
